Henry Bucks ‘Secret’ Installation
Today, I had the pleasure of attending the Henry Bucks installation featuring items from the upcoming A/W 14 season. The concept was to show how the clothes could be worn in various contexts in different parts of the world visited by the fictional ‘Henry’. Each work in the installation was a five minute vignette from a place that Henry was visiting - Hong Kong, Melbourne, London, Sydney and New York. Each piece added a little more to the story of Henry and the mystery lady he seemed to be encountering across the globe. The clothes and accessories being displayed fitted in perfectly with each ‘slice of life’.
The clothes were from Henry Bucks own line and they were matched with accessories from the likes of Drakes, Richard James, Carmina, London Underground and La Portegna.
I was just extremely impressed by both the choice of pieces as well as the way they were put together - great use of colour and texture. The concept was very well thought out and executed - should not have expected any less from Christian Kimber.
Something great is happening with menswear in Melbourne and I can’t wait to see how this develops. I’m usually not a fan of house brands but I came away feeling that I would very much like to get a number of the things on display. Tim Cecil and Christian are doing some VERY impressive things at Henry Bucks!
The store opens on April 15 and launches on the 1st of May.
